Nordstrom's Winter 2011 Makeup Trend Show + Mini Haul (Pic Heavy)

A friend of mine told me about Nordstrom's annual Trend show that showcases the upcoming makeup trends for the winter season... which are metallic eyes and red lips.

I hadn't heard of  the Trend show before, but; I was eager to attend. It was last Saturday, it featured a mini fashion show, upcoming products from numerous makeup, skin care and perfume lines, giveaways, lots of discounts and a goody bag.

The goody bag contained samples of perfume, discounts on products and even a mini Laura Mercier brush and translucent powder!

I love this bag!

The cost was very inexpensive, only $15 and the $15 could be used towards any beauty purchase. Guests had the option to get their faces done by the makeup lines featured. My friends got their faces done at Mac, they looked amazing. I'm a huge Mac fan, but; I decided to get my face done at the Bobbi Brown counter.

Mini Fashion Show, those hats were fierce!

I didn't take a picture of my face, but it came out well. It was very natural on the eyes and face and a bold red lip. It was different from what I would have done, but; isn't that the whole idea of getting your face done? Trying new looks and techniques...in the end I was pleased.

Houndstooth is still a classic print that never goes out of style...

MINI HAUL

The artist that did my face at Bobbi Brown used a peach corrector to brighten my dark circles and then she followed up with a concealer. I never used a corrector before, but; I loved the results. I wanted to buy some other products like the gel liner and the skin care products, but; I couldn't afford all of it. I'm planning on buying the rest of the products next month.

I hit up Mac and got two shadows that I've been wanting to finish off my neutral palette: Bamboo (matte: light beige with peach) and Texture (velvet: peachy-brown with shimmer) both shades are very close to my skin tone,so; I didn't bother to swatch them for you all. Mac has went up on their prices, I really need to hurry up and renew my pro card and start receiving my discount again.

Left: Texture, Right: Bamboo

I had 18 items to back to Mac, so; I was able to get 3 free lipsticks! I bought Snob, Hug Me (flesh pink) and Mac Red. Red lipstick was one of the trends that they featured at the show. Every model had on red lipstick. I have Ruby Woo lipstick by Mac but I wanted a blue-based red lipstick...Mac Red was a good choice. I hit pan on Hug Me...I had to get another one of those, it's a great everyday lipstick.

Hug Me and Red are too of my favorite lippies! Don't you just love Back to MAC?! And of course bamboo and texture are bomb.

We NEVER have anything cool like this in my city/state. I really need to move. Lol...

Lol, I feel you on the moving situation... there are so many happening things going on everywhere but where we live :-)

Hug Me is one of my must have lippies and yes, I love back 2Mac!!! I'm always getting a free lippie.

I wish more companies would offer a recycling program. It feels funny when I have to throw away cosmetics from other brands after using it, I'm so used to saving it in my back 2 mac bag, lol.

How I Refurbished my Louis Vuitton Speedy...

I bought an authentic preloved Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy bag a few months back. While I was so excited to finally get the bag and wear it, I realized (at that time of buying and when I received it) that the bag had some wear on it that could use some fixing up. After searching online, I found a blogger,  Lollipuff , who posted an article on how to refurbish LV bags. Based on the recommendations in the post, I used the following products: Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, Blue Magic Metal Polish cream (tube) and Cadillac Boot and Shine leather conditioner. I also used laundry detergent and baby wipes. All of the products used can be used on any bag to spruce it up. Read on for the deets, to see how you can spruce up your handbag! Before At first glance, the bag had some sheen on the exterior. Most of the brass fixtures had green tarnishing (which happens with aging of brass). The leather handles were dull. The bag had lost some of its shape. The inside was the kicker! The red interi

Mac Face and Body Foundation Review

One of my most used foundations is the Mac Face and Body liquid foundation. I've been promising a  review on it, so here it is. Product Claims "A water-based, water-resistant foundation that provides long-lasting, natural coverage for face and/or body. Ideal for all skin types. Face and Body Foundation provides sheer, natural looking coverage in an easy to blend, water-resistant formula. The long-lasting formula is available in a wide range of colours and contains several emollients to help moisturize and condition the skin. It delivers professional looking results that meet the exacting standards of beauty photography and is ideal for perfecting the face and body." Pros -Price is $32.50 retail and about $19 if you're a Mac pro card member (That could be a con based on your finances). -For the price you pay it gives you a lot of foundation. It's in a 4 fl oz bottle. -Because it's water based it doesn't feel heavy, it feels very light on the face.

Creme of Nature Lemongrass and Rosemary Leave-In Conditioner Review

After promising myself to take better care of my hair, I read in a hair care magazine that if you have breakage or dry hair (like my hair) to consider purchasing a leave-in conditioner, since you don't have to rinse it out-the conditioner keeps on working and conditioning your hair. This was perfect for me because I'm really lazy when it comes to styling and taking care of my own hair... usually I look for products that are easy and quick to use. I do use Creme of Nature's Detangling shampoo, so I figured I would buy their leave-in conditioner. FYI- Creme of Nature is a brand that specializes in hair care products for women of color, who have natural or relaxed hair. They mostly use natural ingredients in their products, which they call "Certified Organic." Product Claims "Pamper your hair with this creme-based formula to soften, detangle, and provide the ultimate conditioning.  Perfect for color treated hair, organic  Lemongrass works to tone and hig
