L'oreal Double Extend Eye Illuminating Mascara Review

Hey Glamour Dolls,

I'm back with another review. This will be my last post for a little while because I'll be heading out of town for IMATS New York this Friday YAY! (which is completely SOLD OUT!) and I'm also taking a mini vacation, so I will be on a brief blogger hiatus. I will be back with plenty more reviews, LOTD's and of course my IMATS haul and experiences.

Here are my thoughts on the L'oreal Double Extend Illuminating mascara...

I received the Black Bronze color.

PRODUCT CLAIMS

"L'Oreal introduces Double Extend Eye Illuminator, a two-step lengthening mascara professionally developed to illuminate your eyes. Black mascara infused with a hint of color adds volume and length to lashes while intensifying eyes. Illuminating top coat infused with light-reflecting pearls highlights your eye color with our exclusive sphere tip brush."

HOW TO USE?

1. Apply the black mascara to lengthen lashes and intesify. (The black has a hint of color.)
2. Apply top coat.

PROS

-You get two mascaras in one for the price of $10.95.
-No clumps and it doesn't smudge.
-Very easy to remove with soap and water, wipes or eye makeup remover.
-It adds volume and lengthens.
-Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers, like myself.
-Can be easily found in your nearest drug store.
-It has a full range of colors for every eye color.

CONS

-Because of it being two mascaras in one and because of the size, you don't get as much product.

THE RESULT

*Note* I was up late last night taking pics... so I know it may look funny without me not wearing any makeup or at least I feel funny looking at these pics with a bare face :)

My bare lashes...

My lashes with the black mascara...

My lashes with the top coat applied, do you see the sparkles?

MY THOUGHTS

I was fairly surprised with this mascara, I really thought that there would be a total, huge difference with the illuminating top coat but the color and sparkles are very subtle-which I like. If you're looking for a big sparkle, this may not be the mascara for you because it provides just a hint of color.

I really like the black mascara by itself because it lengthens and separates my lashes, the top coat is just an added benefit. Besides the color and lengthening, I like that the mascara doesn't flake, clump or smudge -that's a major plus! Overall, I think L'oreal did a good job with this- I'm going to purchase the one for green eyes for the days I wear my color contacts :)

What are your thoughts on this mascara? Have you tried it? Will you try it?

How I Refurbished my Louis Vuitton Speedy...

I bought an authentic preloved Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy bag a few months back. While I was so excited to finally get the bag and wear it, I realized (at that time of buying and when I received it) that the bag had some wear on it that could use some fixing up. After searching online, I found a blogger, Lollipuff, who posted an article on how to refurbish LV bags.

Based on the recommendations in the post, I used the following products: Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, Blue Magic Metal Polish cream (tube) and Cadillac Boot and Shine leather conditioner. I also used laundry detergent and baby wipes. All of the products used can be used on any bag to spruce it up. Read on for the deets, to see how you can spruce up your handbag!

Before

At first glance, the bag had some sheen on the exterior. Most of the brass fixtures had green tarnishing (which happens with aging of brass). The leather handles were dull. The bag had lost some of its shape. The inside was the kicker! The red interior was terrib…

Alexandra Butler's A Beautiful Face 101 :DC Makeup Class (Recap)!

This past Sunday, I had the pleasure of attending Alexandra Butler's A Beautiful Face makeup class. I met Alexandra the first time at The NYC Makeup show last May; before then I had been following her work since an interview she did on Erin Bailey's (Scandalous Beauty) beauty blog.

Alex is a beautiful and amazingly talented freelance makeup artist who currently lives in Atlanta. She worked for Mac for a while and now she's professionally freelancing on her own. She has all kinds of clients from your every day women to celebrity clients. She has done makeup for cast members from Love and Hip Hop Atlanta and also Real Housewives of Atlanta TV shows. I've always admired her flawless face makeup, especially the way she sculpts and contours or as she would say "snatched up your face."

Alex has been hosting makeup shows in several states and she made her way to DC this past Sunday, I couldn't wait (I registered back in February)! I loved the class so much, I r…
