Well-Being ~ Recommitting to a Healthy Lifestyle!

“Your body can stand almost anything. It’s your mind that you have to convince.” ⁣ ⁣ Hi Dolls,  I've wrote about my overall well-being journey before and how it's an ongoing journey for me. Today, I will talk about the physical aspect of that journey. I’ve recommitted to my healthy lifestyle journey, (again) I’ve reflected on the above quote a lot.  I’ve been back and forth on this journey since 2021, and (honestly) this is the most consistent that I’ve been and the most weight that I’ve loss. ⁣I really feel like this time I'm more determined, and I know my "why" reason for recommitting and staying on this journey.  ⁣ So, what’s been helping me: ⁣ Tracking all of my food⁣, I use my Weight Watchers app for this.  Portion control, I limit myself to one portion ⁣ Walking, whether it’s cardio or a brisk walk⁣ Eating intentionally, I no longer eat to pass time, or just because food is there. ⁣ I will admit, this is not always easy. As I type this, I'm craving ...

In my Peaceful Era ~ My Word for 2024!

Happy Spring, Dolls! 🌷 Each year, I reflect on what I want for the year. This year, I turned another decade older, so I did a lot of reflection on what I want I no longer want to carry into this new decade of my life.  One of the things that I desire for myself the most is peace. It is my hope that peace will not just be limited to being my word for 2024, my desire is for it to become a core attribute to my inner well-being.  I want: ⁣ ⁣ more peace with myself⁣ ⁣ to do more of what brings more peace⁣ ⁣ to disconnect from anything that disturbs my peace ⁣ ⁣ ⚡️ Peace is my word for 2024. If you’ve chosen a word or phrase for this year, please share.

Well-Being ~ It's Time for my Annual Flu Shot

Hi Dolls, It’s that time of the year when I schedule my annual flu shot. As part of my ongoing well-being journey, I’ve been consistently getting my flu shot annually. Here’s why: I want to stay healthy so that I don’t miss out any important events in my loved ones lives, like getting dressed up and going out to different events with my mom (pictured). The older I get, the longer it takes me to recover from being sick. My last cold lasted for  two weeks.     I don’t want to risk getting sick again this season. Getting a flu shot is the best way to protect myself and my loved ones from the flu because it can help lessen the severity of flu symptoms if I do get sick. The Facts: Did you know you can still spread the flu even if you don't have symptoms? Getting a flu shot helps protect your loved ones from getting sick, especially those most vulnerable like young kids and older ones.  If you’re considering getting a flu shot, get it as soon as you can. It takes ab...

Take the Trip!

I'm a serious planner, and I rarely do anything last minute or unplanned. Last month, I took a last minute trip to see a friend in Illinois. Believe it or not, that trip was a milestone for me because I always plan my trips down to the last detail. I had so much anxiety about it. I kept thinking about how much money the flight was since I booked last minute, (I kept saying "I pay bill money with this") and how much I was going to have to spend there. Plus, I got sick a few days leading up to it, I just felt like all of these reasons were enough to cancel the trip. I went back and forth in my head about it, and finally, I remembered that traveling (for me) is a form of self care. I also remembered that life is really what you make it. So, I decided to be spontaneous for once and I went. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this trip!  Everything that I was anxious about didn't happen. I truly enjoyed spending time with my friend (which I knew I would). She lives i...

Well-Being: Why I continue to get my Flu Shot ~

Hi Dolls, As some of you may know, I've been documenting my well-being journey on here for a while, probably over a year now. I’ve been taking small steps to enhance my overall well-being, especially as I approach the next decade of my life.  I’ve added getting an annual flu shot to my well-being check list so that I can continue to stay healthy, do the things that bring me happiness (especially traveling  ) and be around the ones I love. The Facts: You may think, it's too late to get your flu vaccine but it's not. It can help protect you and your community this spring, and you’ll have full protection about two weeks after the vaccine. ️To #getyourflushot, visit Stopflu.org .  #Ad #stopflu

My Word for 2023!

Hi Dolls,  I hope 2023 is starting off well for you all. I didn't plan on my first post of the year to be in late February, but you know how it goes... life (as good as it is) gets in the way. 😉 If you've been reading my posts for a while, you may know that I choose a new word or affirmation that sets the tone for my year. I really like that it gives me something to reflect on and to work on through out the year.  This year, I was torn between two words, which were consistency and grace. I thought long about it. Then, I started thinking that on my most stressful and busiest days, I ask myself “what do I need most from myself today?” The answer is usually grace. I also thought about how I am with others. I try my best to give others the benefit of the doubt, but sometimes that doesn't always happen. Usually when you're hard on yourself, you're hard on others. I know this because I experience this myself. So, my goal is to let go of being a perfectionist and to not...

Adult Coloring! (My Latest Haul & The Benefits of Adult Coloring)

Art was my first love, I was the kid who always enjoyed getting a new box of crayons and paint sets as gifts. Now that I'm older, that hasn't changed much lol. My home is filled with coloring books, crayons, colored pencils, markers, gel pens and the like. Adult coloring has been one of my hobbies for some time. I've started and stopped, but I always come back to it. I just received some new goodies in the mail from Colo rit ! I haven't colored in a while, so I was so excited to receive this package, and I couldn't wait to try everything. I received the Blissful Scenes  and the Mandalas Volume IV coloring book, as well as the 48 Colored Gel Pen set . I'm pleasantly surprised with everything I received.  What I love about the coloring books: Blot sheet - Their coloring books have hardback covers, which are a good surface to color on - Detailed coloring pages - They include a blot sheet to prevent ink bleeding. This is very helpful, especially if you're usi...

Planning for Self Care!

Little known fact about me, I love to plan. I regularly write down "self care" on my weekly planner spread. It’s written down, and I do engage in some form of self care, but I never have a specific plan for carrying it out, until now. Thanks to Lovet Planners  for gifting me this beautiful Self Care planner!  It's the planner that I didn't know that I needed. I have self care journals, but I never had a self care planner. This beautiful planner is a game changer. It’s very intentional about self care planning. It’s filled with self care ideas, monthly self care calendars, and self care goal setting. I think my favorite feature is the gratitude journaling list. I absolutely love the inspiring affirmations, they leave you motivated and encouraged to put yourself first. Since it’s a new month, I plan to start fresh and be more intentional with self care. I’m looking forward to what it will bring! Well-Being: Why I got my Flu Shot~

Hello, Dolls! As you know cold and winter season is upon us. Although, I haven't gotten sick in a long time, I'm still making sure that I boost my immune system to protect myself from getting sick.  Taking  supplements daily is one of the ways I’m protecting myself this winter season. In addition to taking supplements, I also got my flu shot. #ad Here’s why: I’ve had the flu when I was younger, and it’s not something I want to experience again. The pandemic has kept me away from my loved ones enough. I don’t want another illness to get in the way of me seeing them.  Better health and well-being is always the goal for me…so that I can live well and do the things that I really love to do. The Facts: 1 in the 3 people with the flu don’t show any symptoms, but can spread it to others. Many healthcare experts expect this year’s flu season to be worse because fewer people were exposed to it last year. ️It’s a lot of food for thought, but I encourage you to consider getti...

My Phrase for 2022!

Hello, Dolls!  Can you believe it's 2022, and it's only two more weeks left in January? Time is moving along. I hope the year is starting off well for all of you. Each year, I pick a word or phrase that I use as my own personal affirmation for the remainder of the year. Last year, it was unbothered . This year, I chose "rise above." I chose rise above because life has it's share of uncertainties, drama, stress, negativity, anxiety and fear. A lot of times, my mind gets stuck in the spiral of dwelling on these events and emotions. I'm trying look past the negative, and to look for hope and positivity. I wanted a quick phrase to remind myself to shift my thinking from the negative cycle, and push forward...essentially, move on. I can also be my own enemy, worst critic, and harshest judge. So, I feel that rise above is an appropriate statement for me to remind myself to get out of my own head and move forward. I'm slowly and surely working on improving my t...
