Top 5 Faves of 2014 (Skin, Hair and Makeup)

Hey Glamour Dolls! Can't believe there are only two weeks left in the year! These are my top five products that I've consistently used throughout the year and I've repurchased over and over again. Read on, and I"ll tell you why I love them. 1. Mac Studio Moisture Cream Moisturizer I originally bought this moisturizer in a travel sized version to sample. The cream is light weight and very moisture rich. It gives my skin a nice radiance and leaves my skin supple. It works wonders in the Fall/Winter months because my skin drinks up moisturizer in the cooler months. I've used other moisturizers and I would put it on and you couldn't tell that I put anything on thirty minutes later; with this moisturizer, it stays on longer. I liked it so much that I went on and bought the full size version. 2. Clarisionic Skin Care System The Clarisonic skin care system is a must-have holy grail product for me! I have blemished, acne prone skin and I can ...

Dr. Miracle's 2 in 1 Tingling Shampoo and Conditioner Review

I have had severe dandruff for as long as I can remember. It doesn't matter if I wash my hair at home or by a stylist or how much or how little I wash my hair, I get flakes religiously 5 days after washing my hair, sometimes sooner than that. Since I've cut my hair the flakes are my noticeable and very embarrassing. I asked my stylist what she recommends for dandruff and she told me Dr. Miracle's 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner. I've been using it for a month now and here are my thoughts. PRODUCT CLAIMS "Dr. Miracle's 2 in 1 Conditioning Dandruff Shampoo is excellent at ending your dandruff, flaking and itching scalp problems. • "Feel It" Formula'sTM tingling sensation supports strong, growing hair & healthy scalp • Thermalceutical™ Complex ends dandruff and heals dryness, flaking and itching. • Moisturizes, Conditions & Shines. • Strengthens Hair and Scalp. • Improves combability. Before Meets After.... Drab 2 Fab Hair Makeover!

Hey Glamour Dolls, A couple of posts ago I said that I got a new look... and here it is!!! BEFORE AFTER I got a pixie cut, it's a short hair style that is flat on the sides and back and about three inches of hair on the top. I LOVE this hair cut! This is the shortest I've had my hair. I've been planning on cutting my hair since last Fall, I wanted to wait until the weather was nicer to get it cut. I cut it because my hair had some breakage in the crown and split ends almost up to the roots. I don't see a need in trying to salvage hair that is badly damaged, sometimes you just need to start off fresh -plus it was time for a change. I was wearing the same cherry cola red rinse in my hair since I was 19, I decided to let that go too. I now have an Ebony Black rinse in my hair and a little cherry cola red at the top, that was my stylist's idea :) MY INSPIRATIONS The pixie cut style is not new, I had several inspirations for this hairstyle....

Creme of Nature Lemongrass and Rosemary Leave-In Conditioner Review

After promising myself to take better care of my hair, I read in a hair care magazine that if you have breakage or dry hair (like my hair) to consider purchasing a leave-in conditioner, since you don't have to rinse it out-the conditioner keeps on working and conditioning your hair. This was perfect for me because I'm really lazy when it comes to styling and taking care of my own hair... usually I look for products that are easy and quick to use. I do use Creme of Nature's Detangling shampoo, so I figured I would buy their leave-in conditioner. FYI- Creme of Nature is a brand that specializes in hair care products for women of color, who have natural or relaxed hair. They mostly use natural ingredients in their products, which they call "Certified Organic." Product Claims "Pamper your hair with this creme-based formula to soften, detangle, and provide the ultimate conditioning.  Perfect for color treated hair, organic  Lemongrass works to tone and hig...

Review of Optimum Care Shampoo and Conditioner

A few months ago I did a post on Essence magazine's Insiders program. For the original post click here . The Insider's program sent me two sets of samples of the new and improved formula of Optimum Care shampoo and conditioner for damaged hair to test and review. I've already sent my comments of the product to the Insider's program but I also wanted to review it here on my blog. ABOUT MY HAIR My hair is thick and chemically relaxed with a relaxer. I don't have much split ends but I do have breakage in the middle of my head due to the way I comb it and sometimes that same area gets extremely matted. My stylist is always getting on me about that. So, when I learned that the Optimum Care samples were for damaged hair it really peaked my interest. PRODUCT CLAIMS -Replenishing Shampoo: pampers and replenishes hair, providing instant breakage reduction for smoother, stronger, healthier hair. -Fortifying Conditioner: patented with Dual Strength Complex, a unique ...

Essence Insiders

I'm a lover of Essence magazine and I'm one of their loyal subscribers. They introduced a new program this year called the Essence Insiders program which I joined a few months ago. The insiders program allows its members to be the first to know about new products, review Essence's ad campaign and try new products and submit your feedback on the products. Here is what Essence says about the program: "The ESSENCE Insiders Panel is a group of women brought together by ESSENCE – the premier brand and magazine for today’s African-American woman. Members of the ESSENCE Insiders panel, the largest online voice of African-American women in the country, play a vital role—from testing new consumer products to evaluating the effectiveness of a brand strategy, tagline or message. ESSENCE Insiders members are among the first to hear about new products, to review ad campaigns before they appear to the public, and to get the latest buzz on what's happening ...
