Self Care: Why I decided to make massages a necessity instead of luxury!

Hi Dolls!

As part of my self care journey, I've been on a mission to improve my overall well-being...this includes mentally, physically, and emotionally. At this point in my life, I'm willing to try anything (within reason and legally) that improves my health. I've been coping with back pain for a while. I've tried a few measures to help with it, but nothing has eased the pain.

I remember a friend telling me a few years back about massages, and how they have helped her cope with ailments that she was dealing with. So, I thought why not try massage treatments. This took some convincing on my part, because I thought how was I going to afford this? Would I be able to commit to this long term?

For me, massages were always a luxury. Something that I wanted to do more of, but I convinced myself it wasn't a necessity. I would only get massages on vacation as a special treat to myself. Even though, I felt the physical benefits of it, I still convinced myself that I didn't need it.

With the constant back pain persisting, and after researching the long term benefits of massages on the body, I decided to go for it. Plus, I had already felt the difference in my back when I would get massages on vacation, so I knew it would definitely ease my pain. All I had to do now is figure out how I was going to afford this.

I researched Massage Envy, and saw that they offer custom massages that starts at $70. I was fine with paying that, but to really experience the full benefits of massages, it's suggested to get them regularly. This peaked my curiosity in wanting to sign up for a monthly membership, this meant I would be paying the $70 monthly. Again, the thought of "how am I going to commit and be able to afford this monthly" came up.

I took a look at my money and expenses, and realized I spend that amount roughly on eating out and Quadpay. The money was definitely there, I just needed to cut back. So, I did. After cancelling my appointment over and over again for the last few months, I finally booked my massage. I had my first appointment last month.

My Experience

The process of booking a massage was very easy. I looked at Google reviews prior to booking, and one  particular Massage Envy in my area had high reviews. I called the number of the location and booked the appointment. The appointment was a month out (which is normal), most of their appointments fill up fast due to to members booking their monthly appointments.

On the day of the appointment, I arrived fifteen minutes before my start time. This is customary, because the initial fifteen minutes is a consultation. I was greeted when I arrived and then I filled out my information and questionnaire.

After that, I was taken to their Tranquility room. It's a quiet, peaceful room where I was able to wait for my therapist, and relax while looking at the calming scenery on tv. While waiting, I discovered that Massage Envy offers various add on treatments to customize your massage. At some point, I will be booking the hot stones add on. I love a hot stone massage, nothing like it!

Next, my therapist came and escorted me back to the massage room. After reading their Google reviews, this particular therapist was highly recommended. So, when I booked my massage, I asked specifically for her. I was instructed to disrobe, and lie face down. After offering me a hot towel, warming the temperature on the bed,  and verifying what pressure I preferred, my massage began!

My massage was great! Those sixty minutes went by so fast. I've had massages before, but this one felt extremely relaxing. I could just feel the tension melting away and my back pain starting to subside. After dressing, my therapist offered me water (which helps to flush out toxins from the massage). I was escorted back to the front desk, where I was asked about my experience and feedback. He also informed me that my therapist recommended monthly massages, along with their aromatherapy add-on.

I accepted the recommendation. I joined their membership program that day. One of the great things I like about their membership is that you can choose to get either a massage, facial or a stretch therapy treatment with your membership monthly. After everything was said and done, I'm grateful for this experience. I already could tell the difference in how I felt after the massage. I was definitely more relaxed, and I slept so well that night. It may sound cliché, but I'm really proud of myself for pushing past my doubt and limited thinking, and choosing what's best for me.

How I Refurbished my Louis Vuitton Speedy...

I bought an authentic preloved Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy bag a few months back. While I was so excited to finally get the bag and wear it, I realized (at that time of buying and when I received it) that the bag had some wear on it that could use some fixing up. After searching online, I found a blogger,  Lollipuff , who posted an article on how to refurbish LV bags. Based on the recommendations in the post, I used the following products: Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, Blue Magic Metal Polish cream (tube) and Cadillac Boot and Shine leather conditioner. I also used laundry detergent and baby wipes. All of the products used can be used on any bag to spruce it up. Read on for the deets, to see how you can spruce up your handbag! Before At first glance, the bag had some sheen on the exterior. Most of the brass fixtures had green tarnishing (which happens with aging of brass). The leather handles were dull. The bag had lost some of its shape. The inside was the kicker! The red interi

Creme of Nature Lemongrass and Rosemary Leave-In Conditioner Review

After promising myself to take better care of my hair, I read in a hair care magazine that if you have breakage or dry hair (like my hair) to consider purchasing a leave-in conditioner, since you don't have to rinse it out-the conditioner keeps on working and conditioning your hair. This was perfect for me because I'm really lazy when it comes to styling and taking care of my own hair... usually I look for products that are easy and quick to use. I do use Creme of Nature's Detangling shampoo, so I figured I would buy their leave-in conditioner. FYI- Creme of Nature is a brand that specializes in hair care products for women of color, who have natural or relaxed hair. They mostly use natural ingredients in their products, which they call "Certified Organic." Product Claims "Pamper your hair with this creme-based formula to soften, detangle, and provide the ultimate conditioning.  Perfect for color treated hair, organic  Lemongrass works to tone and hig
