I'm a serious planner, and I rarely do anything last minute or unplanned. Last month, I took a last minute trip to see a friend in Illinois. Believe it or not, that trip was a milestone for me because I always plan my trips down to the last detail.
I had so much anxiety about it. I kept thinking about how much money the flight was since I booked last minute, (I kept saying "I pay bill money with this") and how much I was going to have to spend there. Plus, I got sick a few days leading up to it, I just felt like all of these reasons were enough to cancel the trip.
I went back and forth in my head about it, and finally, I remembered that traveling (for me) is a form of self care. I also remembered that life is really what you make it. So, I decided to be spontaneous for once and I went. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this trip!
Everything that I was anxious about didn't happen. I truly enjoyed spending time with my friend (which I knew I would). She lives in a rural part of Illinois and I absolutely loved the rural living. I spent less on this trip than any trip. I reconnected with friends that I met there on my previous visits, and because I didn't plan anything, I really had time to just relax and just be.
From this trip I learned:
⭐Spontaneity is good, I need to welcome it more.
⭐A slower, relaxed rural pace is good for my city living soul.
⭐Last minute trips can be made up of a lifetime of memories.
