Simple Beauty Look

So, I wanted to do a more simpler full-face beauty look that can be worn everyday. This can be an ideal look for those that like simple looks or for those that work in a more conservative environment, it also can be a look to wear on an interview or a night out on the town. It's a simple look with a pop of lip color. The lip color can be changed to any lip color you prefer but the eye look is probably as simple as you can get. This look only took about 20 minutes to apply. Here's a list of the products I used: EYES -Urban Decay Primer Potion to prime my eyes -Mac Naked eye Pigment on the lid an crease area -Mac Ricepaper eyeshadow as my highlight color under the brow bone -ELF Waterproof liquid eyeliner for the upper lash line -Mac Smolder eye liner on the lower lash line -Mac Zoomlash Mascara in black FACE -Mac Studio Finish Concealer in NW40 to spot treat my uneven areas -Mac Studio Fix Powder in C6 -Mac Margin Blush LIPS -Mac Current lip liner -Mac Viva G...

Makeup Colors for Spring 2010

Spring is here! As the new season's change so does the trend in colors, makeup and clothes. I'm going to share three of the trendiest colors in makeup this Spring. Keep in mind that these colors are not only the hottest in makeup but they are the hottest in fashion! Makeup is a fun, trial and error process so don't be afraid to try these colors and play around with them until you find the desired look you like. Remember every color looks good on ALL women, we just have to find the right shade and intensity of the color so that it will compliment our skin. PLUM Plum is a hot color this season. It's a deeper color in the berry family but it compliments all skin tones. If you're a little shy about trying this color-start off with purchasing a plum lip liner to add a beautiful finish to your lip gloss or lip stick. Plum lip liners look good with brown, gold and berry lip colors. Plum liners can be purchased from the drug store to any makeup counter. If you're n...

Makeup Artist Studio!!!

Omg! I don't know where to begin. I've been putting off writing this post because I have so much to say and I don't want to bore you all with details or leave anything out :) but, I had the most AMAZING time at Makeup Artist Studio last week! Makeup Artist Studio is a Makeup Artistry school that offers courses from makeup, hair and wardrobe styling to prop styling. The course that I chose to take was for 3 days. All 3 days were so much fun! The school only takes 8 students at a time and my class had 6 students. I think what made the class a lot more fun is that I went with my friend and now fellow Makeup Artist, Lynette Chambliss! The very first day was our instruction and note -taking time. We learned kit preparation, sanitation and hygiene, professional ethics, selecting and mixing foundations, highlighting and contouring as well as perfecting the canvas, which is perfecting the face makeup. The second and third days were all application time! Our class was multi-ra...

My #1 Eyeshadow Palette

Among the many eyeshadow palettes that I have which range from large to small in sizes-this is my FAVORITE palette. LOVE it! It's the Coastal Scents 88 palette. One of the great things about it is it's only $18.95. As you can see in the picture all of the shadows are very vibrant in color. They are dime-sized and the colors range from cool, warm to neutral shades. The shadows range in matte and shimmer finishes. I have numerous eye palettes from MAC, Sephora, Ben Nye, Wales and other brands but I reach for this palette every time I do eye makeup. I just did a wedding recently and was able to do the bride's and wedding party's eye makeup using this palette. They were amazed at the color ranges. This is a great palette for every day use to create any look or even special occasion makeup. It's only $18.95 for 88 shadows, so you're really only paying .21 cent for each shadow. Can you beat that?! This is a MUST-HAVE item in your makeup collection. It can be...

Foundation for WOC (Women of Color)

I'm an avid LOVER and subscriber to Essence magazine! This month's (April 2010) issue has a beauty special on the best foundation for Women of Color. It highlights many of the most concerned foundation topics: -skin concerns (avoiding breakouts, not looking heavily made up) -how to pick the best formula for your skin type and your needed coverage -how to make your foundation last throughout the day -the proper tools to apply your foundation -special effect foundations that help with blemishes and anti-aging foundation The article also lists the foundations and prices that will work best for your budget and skin. I haven't seen a more detailed article about foundation for women of color ever, so this article is definitely worth reading! If you've liked reading this article in Essence magazine-they have a monthly beauty section covering skin, hair and makeup exclusively for women of color.
