October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.🎀This is your gentle reminder to schedule your annual mammogram if you're in the recommended age range. Early detection makes all the difference in the outcome. Well-Being ~ My Favorite form of Exercise

I’m almost six months in to my recommitted healthy lifestyle journey. In that time, I've been making a consistent effort to stay active. Walking has been my exercise of choice.  I enjoy a calorie burning cardio walk, but when I'm unable to do that, I make sure to at least do a brisk walk regularly.  Walking has  so many benefits.  It improves my mood, gives me clarity, burns calories and improves my stamina. It ha s really helped me physically and mentally.  I’ve come to view my walking time as not only exercise, but also therapeutic "me time."   What's your favorite form of exercise?

Well-Being ~ Recommitting to a Healthy Lifestyle!

“Your body can stand almost anything. It’s your mind that you have to convince.” ⁣ ⁣ Hi Dolls,  I've wrote about my overall well-being journey before and how it's an ongoing journey for me. Today, I will talk about the physical aspect of that journey. I’ve recommitted to my healthy lifestyle journey, (again) I’ve reflected on the above quote a lot.  I’ve been back and forth on this journey since 2021, and (honestly) this is the most consistent that I’ve been and the most weight that I’ve loss. ⁣I really feel like this time I'm more determined, and I know my "why" reason for recommitting and staying on this journey.  ⁣ So, what’s been helping me: ⁣ Tracking all of my food⁣, I use my Weight Watchers app for this.  Portion control, I limit myself to one portion ⁣ Walking, whether it’s cardio or a brisk walk⁣ Eating intentionally, I no longer eat to pass time, or just because food is there. ⁣ I will admit, this is not always easy. As I type this, I'm craving ...

Well-Being ~ It's Time for my Annual Flu Shot

Hi Dolls, It’s that time of the year when I schedule my annual flu shot. As part of my ongoing well-being journey, I’ve been consistently getting my flu shot annually. Here’s why: I want to stay healthy so that I don’t miss out any important events in my loved ones lives, like getting dressed up and going out to different events with my mom (pictured). The older I get, the longer it takes me to recover from being sick. My last cold lasted for  two weeks.     I don’t want to risk getting sick again this season. Getting a flu shot is the best way to protect myself and my loved ones from the flu because it can help lessen the severity of flu symptoms if I do get sick. The Facts: Did you know you can still spread the flu even if you don't have symptoms? Getting a flu shot helps protect your loved ones from getting sick, especially those most vulnerable like young kids and older ones.  If you’re considering getting a flu shot, get it as soon as you can. It takes ab...

Well-Being: Why I continue to get my Flu Shot ~

Hi Dolls, As some of you may know, I've been documenting my well-being journey on here for a while, probably over a year now. I’ve been taking small steps to enhance my overall well-being, especially as I approach the next decade of my life.  I’ve added getting an annual flu shot to my well-being check list so that I can continue to stay healthy, do the things that bring me happiness (especially traveling  ) and be around the ones I love. The Facts: You may think, it's too late to get your flu vaccine but it's not. It can help protect you and your community this spring, and you’ll have full protection about two weeks after the vaccine. ️To #getyourflushot, visit Stopflu.org .  #Ad #stopflu

Well-Being ~ Stay Calm, Deliciously!

Hi Dolls, #ad As some of you may know, I'm on an overall well-being journey. I'm working on enhancing my mental, physical, and emotional well-being. It's a struggle at times, but I'm learning to stay consistent. One of the things that is consistent in my journey is taking daily supplements. I've just added Goli Calm Bites to my regimen.  The Goli Ashwa is made with KSM-66Ⓡ Ashwagandha to help promote calmness, relaxation and help reduce stress…all the things that I need. Life can be hectic and chaotic, so sometimes I need a supplement to help me keep calm. ⁣ ⁣ The Details: Goli® Calm Bites do NOT contain artificial flavors, added preservatives or colors from artificial sources. The delicious chocolate acai flavor profile perfectly complements Ashwagandha and the other ingredients. The chocolate is really delicious. I was expecting a powdery, gritty taste; but they actually taste good.  Ashwagandha and Reishi Mushrooms are adaptogen...

Self Care: Why I decided to make massages a necessity instead of luxury!

Hi Dolls! As part of my self care journey, I've been on a mission to improve my overall well-being...this includes mentally, physically, and emotionally. At this point in my life, I'm willing to try anything (within reason and legally) that improves my health. I've been coping with back pain for a while. I've tried a few measures to help with it, but nothing has eased the pain.  I remember a friend telling me a few years back about massages, and how they have helped her cope with ailments that she was dealing with. So, I thought why not try massage treatments. This took some convincing on my part, because I thought how was I going to afford this? Would I be able to commit to this long term?  For me, massages were always a luxury. Something that I wanted to do more of, but I convinced myself it wasn't a necessity. I would only get massages on vacation as a special treat to myself. Even though, I felt the physical benefits of it, I still convinced myself that I didn...

Well-Being: A Better Night's Sleep

Hello, Dolls A good night's sleep is something I've been chasing after for years. Like many people, my nights can be chaotic. Not to mention, I've been suffering with insomnia for years, yes years.     It takes me a while to unwind and fall asleep, and when I finally do, I wake up several times throughout the night. I’ve taken several sleep aids and remedies through the years. I've tried teas, linen sleep sprays, over the counter and prescription aids, and almost every lavender night time product out there. Some were helpful at first, but after a while, I think my body got immune to it. So, I was very curious when Highline Wellness gifted me a bottle of their CBD Night gummies. I was skeptical at first, but they’re really working for me.  The melatonin helps you to fall asleep, and CBD helps you to stay asleep. I’m able to fall asleep faster, and stay asleep longer. An added benefit is I don’t wake up the next morning experiencing grogginess like I’ve felt with ot...

Well-Being: Why I got my Flu Shot~

Hello, Dolls! As you know cold and winter season is upon us. Although, I haven't gotten sick in a long time, I'm still making sure that I boost my immune system to protect myself from getting sick.  Taking  supplements daily is one of the ways I’m protecting myself this winter season. In addition to taking supplements, I also got my flu shot. #ad Here’s why: I’ve had the flu when I was younger, and it’s not something I want to experience again. The pandemic has kept me away from my loved ones enough. I don’t want another illness to get in the way of me seeing them.  Better health and well-being is always the goal for me…so that I can live well and do the things that I really love to do. The Facts: 1 in the 3 people with the flu don’t show any symptoms, but can spread it to others. Many healthcare experts expect this year’s flu season to be worse because fewer people were exposed to it last year. ️It’s a lot of food for thought, but I encourage you to consider getti...
