Makeup Organization...An attempt!

Hey Glamour Dolls!

I recently had to do some cleaning and destressing and makeup organizing is a way that prevents (at least for me) rushing in the morning. I also did some clothing and jewelry organization so my mornings and nights should be a lot much smoother? Right? Wrong... It's not! I procrastinate and sleep late but that's another story.

Anyway, I went through makeup that I had for years and sadly, I had to throw some away because it was old or either I just wasn't using it. I also gave some away. Surprisingly, I still had makeup that is wrapped in plastic or the boxes it came in... I'm making an effort to shop from my personal collection before buying anything else. Here are the results of my organizing.

BEFORE

The big black case on the right is where the majority of my makeup is, every morning I had to sift  through that to find what I wanted... a lot of times I ended up wearing the same look because I was tired of sifting through all of that to find what I needed.

BEFORE...

AFTER

It looks better but still it looks cluttered and it still takes up space. At least now I can find what I want, my makeup collection is modest compared to others. Eventually, I plan to buy the plastic containers that have trays with them so I can save some space.

I have about 8 palettes including eyeshadow and blush that are not pictured and this does not include the makeup that's in my professional makeup artistry kit or the extra "just in case" makeup bag that I have under my sink.

WHAT'S INSIDE?

-The pink crate on the left contains: eye bases, blushes, primers, lashes, lash glue and eye shadow quads.

-The purple crate in the middle contains all foundation, powders, bronzers, concealers, mixing mediums and  face primers.

-The purple crate on the right contains more blush, eyeshadow quads and eyebrow makeup.

-The cyliner containers have different items: one has all eyeliners, mascars and lip liners, another has all lip gloss, another has all lipstick and the other two contain brushes.

-The little yellow crate on top contains all of my eyeshadow pigments and glitter.

That's my meager attempt to organize my makeup... How do you store your makeup?

Gabs! OMG. You should definitely check out Ebay for one of those rolling cases. That way you can stand everything up and see all the colors at once. Some of them are huge, but there are plenty that are medium sized with 6 levels of pull out trays.

I keep everything but my glosses in an aluminum case. It's overflowing, so I plan on replacing it very soon. I keep all of my glosses in a Mally travel case and it is filled to capacity!

Lol, girl I know! I need something because those crates take up space in my bathroom!

I've seen those trays at Wal Mart. I may have to get 2 of them. Once I get them, I'll show another before and after pic :)

Nooooo, don't get the little ones b/c you'll just be mad at yourself. Trust me.

Or you could get one of those organization crates from a craft store!

@ Sher: Thanks :)

@Agent Elle: Since you have a big collection, I'll take your word for it and get a bigger case.

I just hope it fits on my vanity in my bathroom because I don't want to put any makeup up in my room because the lighting is not the best in there. I would love to see your case full of lip glosses!

This is a big deal for me! I have some plastic organizers that I purchased from Target where I keep my overflow. However, the products I use regularly on my clients are all in my kit. You seem to have a good system set up! Thanks for sharing :)

How I Refurbished my Louis Vuitton Speedy...

I bought an authentic preloved Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy bag a few months back. While I was so excited to finally get the bag and wear it, I realized (at that time of buying and when I received it) that the bag had some wear on it that could use some fixing up. After searching online, I found a blogger,  Lollipuff , who posted an article on how to refurbish LV bags. Based on the recommendations in the post, I used the following products: Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, Blue Magic Metal Polish cream (tube) and Cadillac Boot and Shine leather conditioner. I also used laundry detergent and baby wipes. All of the products used can be used on any bag to spruce it up. Read on for the deets, to see how you can spruce up your handbag! Before At first glance, the bag had some sheen on the exterior. Most of the brass fixtures had green tarnishing (which happens with aging of brass). The leather handles were dull. The bag had lost some of its shape. The inside was the kicker! The red interi

Mac Face and Body Foundation Review

One of my most used foundations is the Mac Face and Body liquid foundation. I've been promising a  review on it, so here it is. Product Claims "A water-based, water-resistant foundation that provides long-lasting, natural coverage for face and/or body. Ideal for all skin types. Face and Body Foundation provides sheer, natural looking coverage in an easy to blend, water-resistant formula. The long-lasting formula is available in a wide range of colours and contains several emollients to help moisturize and condition the skin. It delivers professional looking results that meet the exacting standards of beauty photography and is ideal for perfecting the face and body." Pros -Price is $32.50 retail and about $19 if you're a Mac pro card member (That could be a con based on your finances). -For the price you pay it gives you a lot of foundation. It's in a 4 fl oz bottle. -Because it's water based it doesn't feel heavy, it feels very light on the face.

Creme of Nature Lemongrass and Rosemary Leave-In Conditioner Review

After promising myself to take better care of my hair, I read in a hair care magazine that if you have breakage or dry hair (like my hair) to consider purchasing a leave-in conditioner, since you don't have to rinse it out-the conditioner keeps on working and conditioning your hair. This was perfect for me because I'm really lazy when it comes to styling and taking care of my own hair... usually I look for products that are easy and quick to use. I do use Creme of Nature's Detangling shampoo, so I figured I would buy their leave-in conditioner. FYI- Creme of Nature is a brand that specializes in hair care products for women of color, who have natural or relaxed hair. They mostly use natural ingredients in their products, which they call "Certified Organic." Product Claims "Pamper your hair with this creme-based formula to soften, detangle, and provide the ultimate conditioning.  Perfect for color treated hair, organic  Lemongrass works to tone and hig
