My Latest Beauty Read...

I usually read a beauty book at least once a month to keep up with the latest beauty trends and to sharpen my makeup skills. I'm reading Instyle's Ultimate Beauty Secrets. I love reading my monthly subscription to Instyle, so I had to read this book.

It was recommended to me by one of my coworkers since she knows I'm a beauty junkie...thanks Kibbi, hope she's reading this. This book features tips, tricks and short cuts to create the perfect look. It's broken up into sections: skin, foundation and concealer, cheeks, eyes, lips and nails plus some extras.

Why it's helpful?

  • It includes advice from makeup artists, celebrities, dermatologists and beauty editors who have  learned personally from experience what works and what doesn't work.
  • It has some of the most beautiful and colorful pictures, I read a beauty book last month that had all black and white pictures....come on now, really?! One of the most beautiful things about beauty is color! How can you have a beauty book without colorful pictures?

Here are just a few of my favorite tips that I've discovered since reading it...

  • "Clean your cell phone with antibacterial wipes to prevent chin and cheek breakouts. This should be done daily, but if that's not possible, aim for once a week."

  • "To make summer foundation work in winter, dab a little foundation on your hand, then squeeze a pea-size amount of SPF30 and mix until the sunscreen blends completely with the foundation, lightening it by a shade or two."

  • "Fix a cracked eyeshadow by popping it out of its tray, putting it into a makeup palette and crushing it. Add a dab of Vaseline or eye cream until you've gotten the right consistency and you have cream eyeshadow."

If you love reading beauty books that offer beauty tips this book is for you... it includes over 200+ plus tips and it answers some of your most burning beauty questions. The book retails for $22.95, it's about half that price on Amazon :)

I've gotta check this out. Thanks for sharing! I'm currently addicted to Jemma Kidd's Beauty Bible. It's got a lot of good tips and looks too. Kevyn Aucoin's Making Faces is another good one.

No problem Miss Dre, I will have to look into the Jemma Kidd's Beauty Bible.

I've read Kevyn Aucoin's Making Faces, it's really good. I want to add it to my personal book collection.

I wonder if this is available on Kindle? I LOVE LOVE LOVE Instyle. it's like a style bible and its a little more practical than vogue. I'm gonna look for this book, I haven't seen it around.

Yes, Instyle is my fave fashion magazine ever... it's so easy to read and the styles are duplicateable.

I haven't seen this in any book store either, I checked it out from my job (library) but I did see it on Amazon and Ebay and it was reasonably priced.
