Golden-Bronze Bridal Makeover + Kit Faves

Hello, Glamour Dolls :-)

I did wedding makeup over the weekend. I was really excited because I've done smaller weddings in the past and this was my first big wedding! I'm glad I made it through the day without feeling tired or sluggish.

The wedding colors were gold, burgundy and white...here are a few pics of me in action and some of the work I did.

My work area...

My well-used makeup kit :-)

Working on the bride...

This is one of my dear friends, who was also a bridesmaid in the wedding. She doesn't wear foundation, so; I wanted it to be very light and natural. I used the  Mid Marigold color from the Graftobian Hd foundation palette and powder. On her eyes are: Satin Taupe, Woodwinked and Bamboo e/s by Mac. We did a light flush blush on her cheeks.. her brown contacts really made her eyes pop.

The maid of honor was also a friend of mine. She wanted a natural look with some flair. I used the Sienna color from the Graftobian foundation palette on her and the MUFE HD invisible powder. On her eyes, I did a dark to light transition (requested by her) on her lid using dark brown, bronze and gold e/s. I topped it off with some Red Cherry #82 lashes and smoked out liner.

 Maid of Honor

The lovely bride wanted a natural foundation look, with a golden glow. I used Burnt Amber foundation from the Graftobian palette with powder. I added Mac's golden bronzer iridescent powder to give her a nice glow along with Cover Girl's Ebony Bronzer to contour. She wanted colorful glossy lip, so; I used NYX Auburn lip liner and filled in her lips and added clear gloss.  On her eyes, I used Mac shadows: Woodwinked e/s on the lid, Folie and Embark in her crease and Texture e/s as her higlight.

The lovely bride!

KIT FAVES

I had to go out and buy a few items that I ran out of before the wedding, here are a few faves, old and new, that I couldn't get enough of using:

(New Faves)

1. Black Radiance Creme liner ($4.99)- One of the easiest and inexpensive creme liners to use, it dries fast and smudge proof plus it glides on so easily.

2. Black Radiance Complexion Perfection Shine Control primer ($5.99)-The price really caught my eye, some primers are extremely expensive, but; it effectively did the job.

3. L'oreal LeKohl eyeliner in Onyx ($9.79)- I really prefer kohl liners for the lower lash line, this one glides on really well without smudging. Kohl eyeliners really hold up well when you're sweating and even if you're crying.

(Old Faves)

1. Alcone sponges ($2.50 for 8) The best jumbo sponges out there! They're non-laytex, so; they don't crumble, turn yellow or fall apart. Each sponge is water-based, so; they don't soak up all the product like foundation...I absolutely love them!

2. Mac Woodwinked eyeshadow ($15)-One of the most gorgeous gold shadows, it was really a life-saver on Saturday since gold was one of her wedding colors. It literally looks good on ALL complexions and races. Some gold shadows wash out in photography but woodwinked stays true to color even under harsh flash photography.

3. 91% alcohol ($2.99 for 32oz)- I got this good tip from Makeup Artistry school, I keep a spray bottle of it in my kit, to sanitize my area and kit, wipe down and disinfect cosmetics and to clean my brushes.

@ Shana: Thanks, I will try Sally's ultra wedge sponges... the only thing I don't like about Alcone sponges is that you have to buy them online.

Mac Face and Body Foundation Review

One of my most used foundations is the Mac Face and Body liquid foundation. I've been promising a  review on it, so here it is. Product Claims "A water-based, water-resistant foundation that provides long-lasting, natural coverage for face and/or body. Ideal for all skin types. Face and Body Foundation provides sheer, natural looking coverage in an easy to blend, water-resistant formula. The long-lasting formula is available in a wide range of colours and contains several emollients to help moisturize and condition the skin. It delivers professional looking results that meet the exacting standards of beauty photography and is ideal for perfecting the face and body." Pros -Price is $32.50 retail and about $19 if you're a Mac pro card member (That could be a con based on your finances). -For the price you pay it gives you a lot of foundation. It's in a 4 fl oz bottle. -Because it's water based it doesn't feel heavy, it feels very light on the face. ...

Well-Being: A Better Night's Sleep

Hello, Dolls A good night's sleep is something I've been chasing after for years. Like many people, my nights can be chaotic. Not to mention, I've been suffering with insomnia for years, yes years.     It takes me a while to unwind and fall asleep, and when I finally do, I wake up several times throughout the night. I’ve taken several sleep aids and remedies through the years. I've tried teas, linen sleep sprays, over the counter and prescription aids, and almost every lavender night time product out there. Some were helpful at first, but after a while, I think my body got immune to it. So, I was very curious when Highline Wellness gifted me a bottle of their CBD Night gummies. I was skeptical at first, but they’re really working for me.  The melatonin helps you to fall asleep, and CBD helps you to stay asleep. I’m able to fall asleep faster, and stay asleep longer. An added benefit is I don’t wake up the next morning experiencing grogginess like I’ve felt with ot...

Creme of Nature Lemongrass and Rosemary Leave-In Conditioner Review

After promising myself to take better care of my hair, I read in a hair care magazine that if you have breakage or dry hair (like my hair) to consider purchasing a leave-in conditioner, since you don't have to rinse it out-the conditioner keeps on working and conditioning your hair. This was perfect for me because I'm really lazy when it comes to styling and taking care of my own hair... usually I look for products that are easy and quick to use. I do use Creme of Nature's Detangling shampoo, so I figured I would buy their leave-in conditioner. FYI- Creme of Nature is a brand that specializes in hair care products for women of color, who have natural or relaxed hair. They mostly use natural ingredients in their products, which they call "Certified Organic." Product Claims "Pamper your hair with this creme-based formula to soften, detangle, and provide the ultimate conditioning.  Perfect for color treated hair, organic  Lemongrass works to tone and hig...
