The Makeup Show NYC: My Experience (Pic Heavy)

The Makeup Show was SIMPLY FAB.COM... there's something so wonderful about being in a room full of makeup artists and makeup enthusiasts. It was such an enjoyable experience, it was everything I thought it would turn out to be. I loved every bit of it, the only thing I hated was that those two days went by so fast.

Day 2 of TMS...you see my Law bag? It came in handy with all of my purchases :-)

I didn't go to TMS last year, so; I don't have anything to compare it with, but; I wasn't disappointed. There were dozens and dozens of all kinds of makeup brands, companies and exhibits. The most popular makeup brands that stood out at the event were Inglot, Kissable Couture, Mac, Makeup Forever and OCC to name a few. The show was crazy packed both days, we arrived later on in the day on both days and it was packed until closing.

The Inglot booth was always busy, that was to be expected.

There were a lot of exciting exhibits from makeovers to special effects and character makeup. It was normal to see models walking around with their faces and bodies completely covered in makeup. I tried to take as many pics of the models that I could :-) TMS had exhibitors on the 1st and 2nd floor, we couldn't get to all of of them, but; I made sure to visit my old faithful staples like (Inglot and OCC). The exhibitors I was excited the most about seeing this year were Kissable Couture, Magnolia Makeup and Model in a Bottle...more about that in my haul post.

I met quite a few people! I met  Kia from Yummy 411 and I also met Shana from Shana Janelle On both are  great supporters of my blog and I'm an avid supporter of their blogs as well, both are so beautiful and really sweet in person. I also met the talented ladies from Magnolia Makeup, I've heard so many good things about Magnolia Makeup...I was so happy to see that they had a booth at TMS. I also met the lovely Silver Lips (not pictured) from Silver Lips Beauty, she was really nice as well.

I really wanted to attend more workshops but because of there being so many people, time got away from me, especially when I was standing in line- waiting on my purchases. I managed to attend one of Enkore's workshops. If you don't know, Enkore is an extremely talented MUA who not only owns his own makeup line but he does makeup tutorials on You Tube and he also does videos on helpful, informative need-to-know information for those who are a MUA's or who are aspiring to be a MUA.

In Enkore's workshop, he showed us how to create fake scars and gashes for special effects makeup...most, if not all of the products he used were very simple. He used purple and red eyeshadow to create the bruised effect and he used a body glue to create the appearance of a gash. I'm always amazed at how detailed and difficult special effects makeup appears to be, but; the application and technique of it is really simple.

The show really made me reflect on my skills as an artist and I definitely want to take my skills and business further, one of the first things I plan to do is to revamp my kit.

Overall, I definitely enjoyed TMS. I really loved that TMS catered to the artist, there were plentiful workshops on advancing your skills and I received a lot of free magazines and books especially for MUA's to further my skills and knowledge...both days were inspiring, fun and educational!

My TMS Haul post will be coming soon...

Well-Being: A Better Night's Sleep

Hello, Dolls A good night's sleep is something I've been chasing after for years. Like many people, my nights can be chaotic. Not to mention, I've been suffering with insomnia for years, yes years.     It takes me a while to unwind and fall asleep, and when I finally do, I wake up several times throughout the night. I’ve taken several sleep aids and remedies through the years. I've tried teas, linen sleep sprays, over the counter and prescription aids, and almost every lavender night time product out there. Some were helpful at first, but after a while, I think my body got immune to it. So, I was very curious when Highline Wellness gifted me a bottle of their CBD Night gummies. I was skeptical at first, but they’re really working for me.  The melatonin helps you to fall asleep, and CBD helps you to stay asleep. I’m able to fall asleep faster, and stay asleep longer. An added benefit is I don’t wake up the next morning experiencing grogginess like I’ve felt with ot...

How I Refurbished my Louis Vuitton Speedy...

I bought an authentic preloved Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy bag a few months back. While I was so excited to finally get the bag and wear it, I realized (at that time of buying and when I received it) that the bag had some wear on it that could use some fixing up. After searching online, I found a blogger,  Lollipuff , who posted an article on how to refurbish LV bags. Based on the recommendations in the post, I used the following products: Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, Blue Magic Metal Polish cream (tube) and Cadillac Boot and Shine leather conditioner. I also used laundry detergent and baby wipes. All of the products used can be used on any bag to spruce it up. Read on for the deets, to see how you can spruce up your handbag! Before At first glance, the bag had some sheen on the exterior. Most of the brass fixtures had green tarnishing (which happens with aging of brass). The leather handles were dull. The bag had lost some of its shape. The inside was the kicker! The red in...
