Beauty Loves of 2012

Hey, Glamour Dolls

I've loved a lot of products within the year, some you all have heard me blog about a lot, others not so much. Here are a few products that stayed in my makeup bag all year.

1. Mac Select Cover Up concealer NC44-This concealer is liquid form and is good for covering up blemishes and dark circles. It provides a medium coverage, often times I only wore this concealer with powder because the coverage is very comparable to foundation. What I love the most, is it provides a "my skin but better" finish; never cakey or mask like.

2. Maybelline Fit Me foundation 320- I didn't readily jump on this product when it first came out, but; since I'm a coupon queen & I received a $2 off coupon for this, I went out and bought it. I didn't wear foundation much this past year, but; when I did-I wore this foundation. It has excellent airbrush like coverage, it lasts all day and despite some of the reviews-it didn't make my skin oily. It has a decent variety of shades, 320 is my color and it's slightly darker than my skin but it still works. This is one of my drugstore faves for under $9.

3. Elf eyelid primer- I love this primer, the best part is it's $1 at Target. I have tubes of it everywhere, in my bathroom, makeup case and car. I wore this all throughout the year, to help my eyeshadow stay on through out the day. Since it's a $1, the staying power will not last all day like other primers but you can at least get 8-10 hours of eyeshadow wear with each application.

4. Kissable Couture lipstick in Agent 007- I tried Kissable Couture lipsticks and glosses at The Makeup Show last spring. I love this shade, it's the perfect pink-coral color, as many lipsticks as I own; I didn't own any lipstick close enough to this color. I wear it every day to work, the color looks good with anything. Kissable Couture lippies can be expensive but they're well worth it, they're moisturizing and they last forever.

5. Ben Nye Banana powder- This is another product that I didn't readily go out and buy when I started hearing about it...out of curiosity, I just decided to get it. It's only $6-$7 and the jar lasts forever. It has several uses, I use it as a setting powder for my makeup and it also can be used to set makeup when you're highlighting. It is yellow in color but it provides more of a glow when applied, the key is using just the right amount. If you use to much, you will look like a banana :-).

Honorable Mentions:

Mac lip conditioner, Wet n Wild eyeshadow palettes, Urban Decay Naked palette #1, Mac Volcanic Ash exfoliator, Mac Spiked brow pencil & Wet n Wild lip gloss.

I love that elf primer and banana powder too! I use the powder to set my concealer/highlight. Some people say woc shouldn't use banana powder because it's not for our shades but I think it works well as long as it's used in moderation. It works great for me! I want to try the Fit Me foundation and the Select Cover Up now! Thanks for sharing your faves!

Agreed, I think the banana powder works well when used in the right amount.

The Fit Me foundation is a hit, some say that it makes their skin oily...I have oily skin & didn't have that problem.

How I Refurbished my Louis Vuitton Speedy...

I bought an authentic preloved Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy bag a few months back. While I was so excited to finally get the bag and wear it, I realized (at that time of buying and when I received it) that the bag had some wear on it that could use some fixing up. After searching online, I found a blogger,  Lollipuff , who posted an article on how to refurbish LV bags. Based on the recommendations in the post, I used the following products: Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, Blue Magic Metal Polish cream (tube) and Cadillac Boot and Shine leather conditioner. I also used laundry detergent and baby wipes. All of the products used can be used on any bag to spruce it up. Read on for the deets, to see how you can spruce up your handbag! Before At first glance, the bag had some sheen on the exterior. Most of the brass fixtures had green tarnishing (which happens with aging of brass). The leather handles were dull. The bag had lost some of its shape. The inside was the kicker! The red interi

Mac Face and Body Foundation Review

One of my most used foundations is the Mac Face and Body liquid foundation. I've been promising a  review on it, so here it is. Product Claims "A water-based, water-resistant foundation that provides long-lasting, natural coverage for face and/or body. Ideal for all skin types. Face and Body Foundation provides sheer, natural looking coverage in an easy to blend, water-resistant formula. The long-lasting formula is available in a wide range of colours and contains several emollients to help moisturize and condition the skin. It delivers professional looking results that meet the exacting standards of beauty photography and is ideal for perfecting the face and body." Pros -Price is $32.50 retail and about $19 if you're a Mac pro card member (That could be a con based on your finances). -For the price you pay it gives you a lot of foundation. It's in a 4 fl oz bottle. -Because it's water based it doesn't feel heavy, it feels very light on the face.

Creme of Nature Lemongrass and Rosemary Leave-In Conditioner Review

After promising myself to take better care of my hair, I read in a hair care magazine that if you have breakage or dry hair (like my hair) to consider purchasing a leave-in conditioner, since you don't have to rinse it out-the conditioner keeps on working and conditioning your hair. This was perfect for me because I'm really lazy when it comes to styling and taking care of my own hair... usually I look for products that are easy and quick to use. I do use Creme of Nature's Detangling shampoo, so I figured I would buy their leave-in conditioner. FYI- Creme of Nature is a brand that specializes in hair care products for women of color, who have natural or relaxed hair. They mostly use natural ingredients in their products, which they call "Certified Organic." Product Claims "Pamper your hair with this creme-based formula to soften, detangle, and provide the ultimate conditioning.  Perfect for color treated hair, organic  Lemongrass works to tone and hig
