My Summer Favorites in Beauty + Things that Make Me Happy!

Hello, Dolls

I've curated a list of my current, most loved beauty items. My summer beauty routine has been very minimal due to the hot temperatures and humidity; the result is lots of perspiration and melted off makeup for me. I had planned to be bronzed and glowing for summer; now, I'm just hot and bothered! Below are a few products that are getting good use in my beauty product rotation.

I'm also sharing a few things that make me happy-July was a very busy month for me- in between the busyness, I was mentally and emotionally down for the entire month. I had my moments of sulking, but, I decided this time to go back to doing the things that made me happy.

I started back reading again, I finished so many books and started reading some new ones. I also started my Adult coloring again, I forgot just how soothing coloring is for me. Below I share one book that I'm currently enjoying and a few coloring books that I've been loving!

Raw Cocoa Butter
I received this as a gift from a coworker, it moisturizes extremely well, and it's not greasy. It works wonders to smooth out severely dry skin like your elbows and cracked heels. Another bonus of using is that my skin stays hydrated through the summer heat and perspiration.

Black Radiance Contour Palette Med/Dark: $8
The perfect contour palette for women of color, it's compact, and does the job. When I do wear foundation in the summer, I do a cheek contour, regularly. It contours with just the right amount of red undertone needed for warmth, without the gray ashiness. I love that it stays put! No matter how much I sweat, it doesn't go anywhere! At $8 a palette, it's a price you can't beat.

Ruby Kisses All Over Glow Bronzing Powder in Bronze Glow: $4
I received this in a beauty box, it's a bronzing powder; but, it gives you a glow of a highlighter. The Bronze Glow shade that I have comes off as a beautiful rose gold color on me that lasts all day, through my perspiration. This is the only bronze glow that I've managed to get all summer! Eventually, before the summer is out, I want to use my Gleam Body Radiance for the full body glow!

Gabrielle Chanel Eau de Parfum: $90-$120
Aside from this perfume bearing my name 😀, it has a classy floral smell that I love. It's not overpowering, and it lasts all day. It has notes of jasmine, orange blossom, grasse tuberose, and ylang-ylang.

Things that Make Me Happy!

Keep Going: 10 Ways to Stay Creative in Good Times and Bad by Austin Kleon
This book was on my to be read pile for a while, the title interested me because I really don't consider myself creative at all, and I struggle to come up with new creative ideas + thinking outside of the box. This has been a good read for me because I like Austin Kleon's lighthearted approach to writing and creativity. In his book, he features simple truths to increase your productivity in any project and in life.

He seems to find creativity in simple, every day tasks. I really like his profound statements that he shares in his book. My favorite quote from the book is: "Disconnect from the world to connect with yourself." Every time I read a page in it, I feel hopeful of igniting my creative side, but, I'm also reminded to not take life so seriously -and not force the creativity-just let it come naturally. It's funny because I randomly decided to read his book, and it's providing what I needed in my time of gloominess, hope and lightheartedness.

Adult Coloring
I decided to go back to my coloring because it always soothes me, and calms my nerves. Once I've finished a page, I always feel a sense of accomplishment, and happiness of admiring my humble art work. I have several coloring books and coloring supplies. Recently, I've been especially loving the coloring books from Latoya Nicole.  She's created Adult coloring books for women of color that feature African American culture. I have all of her coloring books, my favorite one is the 80's Ladies: Coloring book for Adults Stress Relieving Fashion & Trends from the 80's and 90's.

Until next time, stay Glamorous!

How I Refurbished my Louis Vuitton Speedy...

I bought an authentic preloved Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy bag a few months back. While I was so excited to finally get the bag and wear it, I realized (at that time of buying and when I received it) that the bag had some wear on it that could use some fixing up. After searching online, I found a blogger,  Lollipuff , who posted an article on how to refurbish LV bags. Based on the recommendations in the post, I used the following products: Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, Blue Magic Metal Polish cream (tube) and Cadillac Boot and Shine leather conditioner. I also used laundry detergent and baby wipes. All of the products used can be used on any bag to spruce it up. Read on for the deets, to see how you can spruce up your handbag! Before At first glance, the bag had some sheen on the exterior. Most of the brass fixtures had green tarnishing (which happens with aging of brass). The leather handles were dull. The bag had lost some of its shape. The inside was the kicker! The red interi

Mac Face and Body Foundation Review

One of my most used foundations is the Mac Face and Body liquid foundation. I've been promising a  review on it, so here it is. Product Claims "A water-based, water-resistant foundation that provides long-lasting, natural coverage for face and/or body. Ideal for all skin types. Face and Body Foundation provides sheer, natural looking coverage in an easy to blend, water-resistant formula. The long-lasting formula is available in a wide range of colours and contains several emollients to help moisturize and condition the skin. It delivers professional looking results that meet the exacting standards of beauty photography and is ideal for perfecting the face and body." Pros -Price is $32.50 retail and about $19 if you're a Mac pro card member (That could be a con based on your finances). -For the price you pay it gives you a lot of foundation. It's in a 4 fl oz bottle. -Because it's water based it doesn't feel heavy, it feels very light on the face.

Creme of Nature Lemongrass and Rosemary Leave-In Conditioner Review

After promising myself to take better care of my hair, I read in a hair care magazine that if you have breakage or dry hair (like my hair) to consider purchasing a leave-in conditioner, since you don't have to rinse it out-the conditioner keeps on working and conditioning your hair. This was perfect for me because I'm really lazy when it comes to styling and taking care of my own hair... usually I look for products that are easy and quick to use. I do use Creme of Nature's Detangling shampoo, so I figured I would buy their leave-in conditioner. FYI- Creme of Nature is a brand that specializes in hair care products for women of color, who have natural or relaxed hair. They mostly use natural ingredients in their products, which they call "Certified Organic." Product Claims "Pamper your hair with this creme-based formula to soften, detangle, and provide the ultimate conditioning.  Perfect for color treated hair, organic  Lemongrass works to tone and hig
