My Top Beauty Products of 2010

Thanks to everyone who voted in this poll, the majority voted that "yes," I should do a post on my top beauty products of 2010. So, here are the products that I've been in love with for this year and can't get enough of using them.

BODY MOISTURIZERS

Love Spell and Passionate Kisses (discontinued) my favorite scents from Victoria's Secret
I have fell back in love with Victoria's Secret Garden lotions. I used to buy these all the time years ago, in every fragrance but I stopped because I became a consultant for a self care and wellness company and I started using their body moisturizers... that company is closed now, so I went back to using these lotions. They smell beautifully and they make your body, especially my hands feel like silk. My favorite scent is Love Spell. I have had these bottles for a little while now... Victoria's Secret doesn't make the bottles like this anymore.

Caribbean Ginger perfume essence body butter from Soul Purpose
There is a new natural, skin care and wellness company that came out a few years ago called Soul Purpose. They are a direct sales company, meaning you can get their products from a consultant. I have my own personal consultant and I fell in love with the perfumed body butters.

OMG, they moisturize like no other! The body butter is non-greasy and it coats deep down into the layers of your skin for supreme moisture. I have bought these as gifts for a few friends of mine (even men) who are prone to dry, tough skin or ashiness and everyone loves them, they can't stop commenting about how good it makes you smell and how good their hands feel. I will link their site in the bottom of the post.

FACIAL MOISTURIZER

I have been on the search for the perfect face moisturizer for a while now, especially a moisturizer that lasts all day and doesn't make your face feel greasy. I love using the Cocoa butter yellow stick that you can get from a drug store or beauty supply store. Cocoa butter moisturizes well and the stick is no more than $2.

I also found a new moisturizer, Garnier moisture rescue gel cream. I absolutely love this! I saw a sample and a coupon in Instyle magazine for it, I tried it and liked it. I really like that it's so inexpensive. It's $6.99 from Target. It smells good, it feels good on your skin and best of all... it's not greasy through out the day. I'm almost half way through thejar because I use it so much. I'm going to post a review on this, it's just that good!

MAKEUP BRUSHES

From left to right: Elf C brush, 224 brush, 242 brush, slanted eyeliner brush and Sigma F80 brush.
I have numerous makeup brushes but these are the top 5 that I probably couldn't do without. The Elf C brush, Mac 224 and 242 brushes, The Body shop's slanted eye liner brush and Sigma's F80 brush. The Elf C brush packs on color to the eye lid very well without that much eyeshadow fall out if any. The Mac 224 brush is great for blending eye shadows. I also use it to apply colors very lightly if I want a softer look. I also use the Mac 224 brush to apply my nose contour with powder and also to apply powder under my eye area.

The Mac 242 brush is excellent for applying pigments and especially cream products to the eyes like cream eye bases. The eyeliner brush from The Body shop is what I use to fill in my brows and the Sigma F80 flat top kabuki brush applies and blends my liquid and cream foundations. It also applies powder and blush. It's really a multi-use brush! I can't wait to see who will win it in my giveaway :)

FOUNDATION

Black Opal creme stick foundation and Mac C6 and C7 Face & Body foundations
My best foundations this year is the Mac Face and Body foundation and Black Opal's creme stick foundation! Mac Face and Body is water based so it goes on very light. It gives me a great dewy finish and it looks fabulous in photos. It's Mac's version of HD foundation. I'll have to do a review on this foundation too because I love it.

Also, because of following Sam Fine (my favorite celebrity makeup artist) on Twitter, I started using Black Opal's creme stick foundation. I was never a fan of creme stick foundation but I really like this one. Aside from it being only $10, it provides full coverage- you really don't need concealer to use with it. I usually prefer a cream foundation in the winter and this creme stick fits the position! I may have to review this foundation too.

LIPS AND MASCARA

I know I've talked about Elf products this entire year and for good reason and I'm going to talk about them some more. I use their Hypershine lip glosses all the time now. They literally last all day until I wipe it off or until I eat it off. They have a nice variety of colors and the price is $1. It can't get better than that!

Lastly, my top mascara this year has been Maybelline Falsies Volum Express mascara. I normally use 2 coats of mascara but because the mascara brush is curved it curls my lashes, lengthens and thickens them all at once. I really, really like this mascara just as much as I like my Mac Zoomlash mascara. I hope Maybelline keeps this product.

If you would like to find out more about Soul Purpose products click HERE. FYI, I'm not a consultant for the company, I just like using their products :)

* This will probably be my last post for the month of December. I look forward to blogging more posts in January 2011! In the meantime, enjoy your time off with family and friends!*

I know girl... that lotion is so old but my skin is not breaking out and it still smells good so it must have a long shelf life. I want to try some of their newer fragrances. Their having a semi-annual sale now.

I hope you like the Face and Body foundation.

Great list! Now I've got to get my hands on that Garnier, I have super dry skin and nothing seems to keep it moisturized during the winter.

How I Refurbished my Louis Vuitton Speedy...

I bought an authentic preloved Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy bag a few months back. While I was so excited to finally get the bag and wear it, I realized (at that time of buying and when I received it) that the bag had some wear on it that could use some fixing up. After searching online, I found a blogger,  Lollipuff , who posted an article on how to refurbish LV bags. Based on the recommendations in the post, I used the following products: Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, Blue Magic Metal Polish cream (tube) and Cadillac Boot and Shine leather conditioner. I also used laundry detergent and baby wipes. All of the products used can be used on any bag to spruce it up. Read on for the deets, to see how you can spruce up your handbag! Before At first glance, the bag had some sheen on the exterior. Most of the brass fixtures had green tarnishing (which happens with aging of brass). The leather handles were dull. The bag had lost some of its shape. The inside was the kicker! The red interi

Mac Face and Body Foundation Review

One of my most used foundations is the Mac Face and Body liquid foundation. I've been promising a  review on it, so here it is. Product Claims "A water-based, water-resistant foundation that provides long-lasting, natural coverage for face and/or body. Ideal for all skin types. Face and Body Foundation provides sheer, natural looking coverage in an easy to blend, water-resistant formula. The long-lasting formula is available in a wide range of colours and contains several emollients to help moisturize and condition the skin. It delivers professional looking results that meet the exacting standards of beauty photography and is ideal for perfecting the face and body." Pros -Price is $32.50 retail and about $19 if you're a Mac pro card member (That could be a con based on your finances). -For the price you pay it gives you a lot of foundation. It's in a 4 fl oz bottle. -Because it's water based it doesn't feel heavy, it feels very light on the face.

Creme of Nature Lemongrass and Rosemary Leave-In Conditioner Review

After promising myself to take better care of my hair, I read in a hair care magazine that if you have breakage or dry hair (like my hair) to consider purchasing a leave-in conditioner, since you don't have to rinse it out-the conditioner keeps on working and conditioning your hair. This was perfect for me because I'm really lazy when it comes to styling and taking care of my own hair... usually I look for products that are easy and quick to use. I do use Creme of Nature's Detangling shampoo, so I figured I would buy their leave-in conditioner. FYI- Creme of Nature is a brand that specializes in hair care products for women of color, who have natural or relaxed hair. They mostly use natural ingredients in their products, which they call "Certified Organic." Product Claims "Pamper your hair with this creme-based formula to soften, detangle, and provide the ultimate conditioning.  Perfect for color treated hair, organic  Lemongrass works to tone and hig
