What I've Been Loving in Beauty, Skin Care, and Books!

I have been shopping from my ever growing makeup and beauty stash, by using products that I've had for a while. Because I'm a product junkie, I don't use the same exact products enough to view it as a fave; the reason being is that I typically have several other products just like it, from different brands. But, I've taken a break from buying products, so that I can save some coins, and use what I already have. Since I started doing this, I've rediscovered some awesome products. Below are some products that I've been using regularly, and loving! I also share one of my favorite authors of the moment. Read on for my thoughts!

Beauty

-It's My Raye Raye Eyeshadow Palette- I've had this palette in my collection for a while, didn't start using it until this month when I took it with me on vacation. That's what happens when you have so many eyeshadow palettes, there's always one waiting to be used in the rotation. The Raye Raye shadows give you just enough neutrals and colors to create a variety of looks. The shadows are great quality; the shimmers glide on smoothly, easy to blend, and the pigmentation is high quality. I am loving the contour powders; the middle one is my go to...it gives just the right amount of warmth with no dull, ashy grayness. I can't say enough about the highlighters, they are not only gorgeous, but, the pigmentation and vibrancy rival my high end highlighters. An added bonus of this palette is that it's a great size to travel with, and compact enough to fit into a medium sized purse.

-Coloured Raine Matte Liquid Lipstick- I've been fan of Coloured Raine matte lipsticks; recently, I rediscovered how great they really are! They are, honestly, my fave lip mattes! They glide on smoothly and evenly. They don't crack, leave a sticky residue, or start peeling after hours of wear. I don't have to reapply at all, only if I eat  something oil based or greasy. Other than that, they stay put all day- through eating and drinking.

Skin Care

-Ehoney Goddess Glow Cleansing Scrub-  I've reviewd this cleansing scrub previously, read HERE for the review. I still love it! It's a multi-purpose product for me. I use it as a cleanser and exfoliant. It's also works well to remove makeup. I use a Clarisonic cleanser several times a week for deep cleaning and exfoliation; the other days, I switch up and manually cleanse my face with my hands.  When I use this method, there is always left over makeup when I wash my face. When I use the cleansing scrub, there is no makeup left over. It gets every trace of makeup, oil and dirt with manual cleansing. Plus, I love the way it smells, and it has a soothing (never drying) feel on my skin.

-Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Cleansing Balm- I got this cleansing balm in one of my Boxy Charm boxes. I absolutely LOVE it! It removes makeup like a dream; it just melts away. I apply it with my hands, and use a baby wipe to wipe away the makeup. It removes every trace! When I use other makeup removers to remove makeup, I always see left over traces of it on my Clarisonic brush head. When I use this remover, my Clarisonic brush head is clear...no makeup traces at all!

Fragrances

Crush by Rihanna- I have had this fragrance for at least a year, never used it because I had so many fragrances that I was already using. I started using it, and I forgot how much I love the smell. It smells amazing! It's described as a floral oriental fragrance with a fun, feminine twist. It has notes of bergamot, mandarin, pink pepper, pink rose, spicy ylang-ylang, and red berries. I usually don't like floral scents, but, this one is just right, not overwhelming. I can best describe it as smelling like grapefruit and a pink lemonade mix.  Since it's light, and not overpowering, I wear it just about every day.

Books

Mystery Thrillers- I'm always reading several books at a time. Currently, I've really been loving good mystery thrillers. My favorite author right now is Shari Lapena. I have read just about all of her books. She writes thriller novels that keep you guessing. Sometimes, when I read books -they are predictable- and I can guess the ending, and my guess is usually correct. When I read Shari Lapena's books, there is always a curve ball, (several curve balls) and an ending that I didn't see coming!

I'm reading her second novel, A Stranger in the House. It's about a well-to-do wife who wakes up from a bad car accident, and part of her memory is gone. Later on, detectives tie her car to a murder scene. She can't remember why she was at the scene of the crime. The detectives don't believe that she's innocent, and her husband is skeptical. She wants to know the truth herself, but, she neglects to tell her husband that she's hiding secrets about her past; and her husband has a few secrets of his own! I'm half way through the book, and I can't wait to see how it ends.

How I Refurbished my Louis Vuitton Speedy...

I bought an authentic preloved Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy bag a few months back. While I was so excited to finally get the bag and wear it, I realized (at that time of buying and when I received it) that the bag had some wear on it that could use some fixing up. After searching online, I found a blogger,  Lollipuff , who posted an article on how to refurbish LV bags. Based on the recommendations in the post, I used the following products: Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, Blue Magic Metal Polish cream (tube) and Cadillac Boot and Shine leather conditioner. I also used laundry detergent and baby wipes. All of the products used can be used on any bag to spruce it up. Read on for the deets, to see how you can spruce up your handbag! Before At first glance, the bag had some sheen on the exterior. Most of the brass fixtures had green tarnishing (which happens with aging of brass). The leather handles were dull. The bag had lost some of its shape. The inside was the kicker! The red interi

Mac Face and Body Foundation Review

One of my most used foundations is the Mac Face and Body liquid foundation. I've been promising a  review on it, so here it is. Product Claims "A water-based, water-resistant foundation that provides long-lasting, natural coverage for face and/or body. Ideal for all skin types. Face and Body Foundation provides sheer, natural looking coverage in an easy to blend, water-resistant formula. The long-lasting formula is available in a wide range of colours and contains several emollients to help moisturize and condition the skin. It delivers professional looking results that meet the exacting standards of beauty photography and is ideal for perfecting the face and body." Pros -Price is $32.50 retail and about $19 if you're a Mac pro card member (That could be a con based on your finances). -For the price you pay it gives you a lot of foundation. It's in a 4 fl oz bottle. -Because it's water based it doesn't feel heavy, it feels very light on the face.

Creme of Nature Lemongrass and Rosemary Leave-In Conditioner Review

After promising myself to take better care of my hair, I read in a hair care magazine that if you have breakage or dry hair (like my hair) to consider purchasing a leave-in conditioner, since you don't have to rinse it out-the conditioner keeps on working and conditioning your hair. This was perfect for me because I'm really lazy when it comes to styling and taking care of my own hair... usually I look for products that are easy and quick to use. I do use Creme of Nature's Detangling shampoo, so I figured I would buy their leave-in conditioner. FYI- Creme of Nature is a brand that specializes in hair care products for women of color, who have natural or relaxed hair. They mostly use natural ingredients in their products, which they call "Certified Organic." Product Claims "Pamper your hair with this creme-based formula to soften, detangle, and provide the ultimate conditioning.  Perfect for color treated hair, organic  Lemongrass works to tone and hig
