What's in my Kit? (Eyeshadows)

A good majority of my followers are makeup artists or aspiring makeup artists and part of the makeup I buy is for my makeup artistry kit, so... each month I will feature a few items that I use in my professional makeup artistry kit for clients-hopefully this will give artists (both professional and aspiring) a good idea of what products work and what doesn't work. These are the eyeshadows that I use in my kit. I thought it would be cost effective to purchase eyeshadow palettes and it also saves space.

COASTAL SCENTS 88 PALETTE

I think it's safe to say that this palette needs no introduction. The shadows are good to work with, they're pigmented and the palette offers a wide range of colors, some of the colors can be chalky but I have so many eyeshadows in my collection I could really care less about a half a dozen shadows being chalky.  This palette was one of my first ever reviews on my blog. If you're interested in reading the review click HERE.

88 NEUTRAL PALETTE

This is one of the sister palettes to the original 88 palette, only this one has neutral and warm colors. As you all know, every client doesn't like bright and colorful looks so you always need a nice netural palette in your collection. I purchased this one from Ebay. It delivers the same great color payoff as my other 88 palette and both 88 palettes have a mixture of matte and shimmer eyeshadows. I religiously take both of these 88 palettes on EVERY makeup job :)

BEN NYE LUMIERE GRANDE PALETTE

I love this palette! I think every artist needs to have a few shadows that are very intense in color for photoshoots, character, fantasy and costume makeup. Ben Nye makeup products are especially made for theater and even clown makeup, so the color payoff is VERY intense, more intense than your average eyeshadows.

This kit was a bit of an investment. I know I paid at least $50 for this palette but the colors are so amazing and they look even better when applied wet... I really don't regret paying the price I paid. I don't take this palette on every job because most of my makeup jobs are for beauty and bridal makeup. I bought this palette from Bubba Sikes, which is a clown supplies website. They have the palette for $54, which is the cheapest I've seen.

The colors that come in this palette are: Ice, Aztec Gold,  Silver, Sun Yellow, Cosmic Blue, Azalea, Iced Gold, Tangerine, Chartreuse, Jade, Amethyst and Cosmic Violet.

MAC PALETTE

This is my beloved Mac palette. I made this palette over a year ago.  I really use this for personal use but I take it with me on some makeup jobs usually when I'm feeling lazy and don't feel like experimenting with colors in my 88 palettes. These are my go-to colors and shadows that I love from Mac. I have a go-to shadow combination that I use from this palette that works on EVERYONE!

The shadows that I have in this palette are: Da Bling, Parrot, Goldmine, Mediterranean, Freshwater, Nocturnelle, Honey Lust, Folie, Saddle, Sketch, Satin Taupe, Woodwinked, Romp, Mythology and Embark.

And there you have it, these are my shadows that I use in my kit. I still have other palettes for my own personal collection that I use. I've been excercising self-discipline because I'm determined not to buy any more big palettes like these no matter how popular, inexpensive or pretty they are... I'll admit they're palettes out there that I'm tempted to buy but I know I have over at least 200 eyeshadows and I know I'll probably never use them all :)

Enough wih my rambling, stay tuned for next month's feature of What's in my Kit?

Nice choices. I have one 88 palette, the tropical shimmer and I share most my other palettes with my kit... 3 MAC 15 pan palettes filled with mostly MAC and some NYX trio shadows, and I have some UD shadows on the way to fill up a few remaining spaces, my UD Naked Palette and about 6 Sleek Palettes with 2 more on the way. Sleek palettes are great for MUA kits and very compact so they don't take up a lot of space. :)

Well-Being: A Better Night's Sleep

Hello, Dolls A good night's sleep is something I've been chasing after for years. Like many people, my nights can be chaotic. Not to mention, I've been suffering with insomnia for years, yes years.     It takes me a while to unwind and fall asleep, and when I finally do, I wake up several times throughout the night. I’ve taken several sleep aids and remedies through the years. I've tried teas, linen sleep sprays, over the counter and prescription aids, and almost every lavender night time product out there. Some were helpful at first, but after a while, I think my body got immune to it. So, I was very curious when Highline Wellness gifted me a bottle of their CBD Night gummies. I was skeptical at first, but they’re really working for me.  The melatonin helps you to fall asleep, and CBD helps you to stay asleep. I’m able to fall asleep faster, and stay asleep longer. An added benefit is I don’t wake up the next morning experiencing grogginess like I’ve felt with ot...

How I Refurbished my Louis Vuitton Speedy...

I bought an authentic preloved Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy bag a few months back. While I was so excited to finally get the bag and wear it, I realized (at that time of buying and when I received it) that the bag had some wear on it that could use some fixing up. After searching online, I found a blogger,  Lollipuff , who posted an article on how to refurbish LV bags. Based on the recommendations in the post, I used the following products: Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, Blue Magic Metal Polish cream (tube) and Cadillac Boot and Shine leather conditioner. I also used laundry detergent and baby wipes. All of the products used can be used on any bag to spruce it up. Read on for the deets, to see how you can spruce up your handbag! Before At first glance, the bag had some sheen on the exterior. Most of the brass fixtures had green tarnishing (which happens with aging of brass). The leather handles were dull. The bag had lost some of its shape. The inside was the kicker! The red in...
